Republic Day is a national holiday in India, celebrated annually on January 26th. It marks the day in 1950 when the Constitution of India came into effect, making India a republic and replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of the country. This day is celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor all over the country. It is a day to remember and celebrate the sacrifices of our freedom fighters who fought for India's independence and the efforts of the drafting committee, who worked tirelessly to give the country a Constitution that is a guiding light for the people of India. The main Republic Day celebration is held in the national capital, New Delhi, at the Rajpath before the President of India.
